All’Aria! Chiara

Remo Remi

In late 2017, the Palazzo Ducale Museum, continuing the “Sculpture in the Square” program, presented the work “All’Aria! Chiara,” created in 1980 by Arezzo-born artist Roberto Remi. The dismantled work was reassembled and revised in its entirety for donation to the Palazzo Ducale Museum Complex in Mantua, following an exhibition of the artist’s work in the museum’s LaGalleria Arte Contemporanea space in spring 2017, together with artist Paola Pezzi.

All’Aria! Chiara expresses the artist’s characteristic experimental approach within Remi’s work. The chromatic variety and free expression of the painted steel elements soaring into the sky, almost as if blossoming from a tree trunk, also covered in paint, expresses a tension toward the whole, projecting darting forms into the blue that reach out into the expanse. The dynamism of the individual metal pieces, dictated by the lines cast into the void of the darting sheets, responds to the impalpable here and now, in the relativity of the moment, of the atmosphere that becomes the hour of the day and plays with the tree of life, blending the color of the air with the color of the sculpture.

In 2018, with the technical support of MCM, the work was completely revised.
