Cookies come in various types and serve different purposes. Some cookies, such as technical cookies, are necessary for the proper functioning and security of the site; others are intended for analysis, user experience improvement, and personalization of our communications.
In particular, the cookies used on the FMG website include:
-
Technical cookies, which are essential for the correct functioning and security of the site, and help improve your browsing experience and personalize communication;
-
Marketing cookies, which—through newsletter forms or contact forms on the website—allow us to track your preferences or device. These cookies also help the site function according to your expectations, for example, by making it easier to find information about products that interest you.
COOKIES AND PRIVACY
Given the particularly invasive nature of profiling cookies (especially those from third parties) in the users’ private sphere, European and Italian regulations require that users are adequately informed about their use and are able to express valid consent to their installation.
In particular, the Authority’s “Cookie Measure” of May 8, 2014 [Doc. Web No. 3118884] establishes that when accessing the homepage or any other page of a website using cookies for profiling and marketing purposes, a clearly visible banner must immediately appear, clearly stating that:
-
The website uses profiling cookies to send targeted advertising messages;
-
The website may also allow third-party cookies (i.e., cookies installed by a website different from the one being visited);
-
A link must be provided to a more detailed policy, explaining the use of cookies and allowing users to deny consent to the installation of cookies, either directly or by accessing the relevant third-party services;
-
It must be indicated that by continuing to browse (e.g., by accessing another area of the site or clicking on an image or link), the user consents to the use of cookies.
EU COOKIE DIRECTIVE
Directive 2009/136/EC aims to strengthen the protection of internet users’ personal data. For this reason, the EU distinguishes between technical cookies and profiling cookies:
-
Technical cookies can be installed immediately (i.e., without prior user consent);
-
Profiling cookies, however, require prior consent.
This means the EU regulation requires an opt-in solution for non-essential cookies.
The main difference between opt-out and opt-in:
-
Opt-out: Cookies are active by default, and users can choose to disable them later.
-
Opt-in: Cookies are only activated if and when the user gives consent.
IN COMPLIANCE WITH THESE REGULATIONS, USERS MAY:
-
Accept all cookies by clicking “Accept”;
-
Customize their preferences by clicking “Customize” and choosing which cookies to consent to;
-
Reject all cookies (except technical ones) by clicking “Only Necessary”.

In any case, in addition to the safeguards provided, you also have other options for browsing without cookies:
Block third-party cookies
Third-party cookies are generally not essential for browsing, so you can refuse them by default through specific settings in your browser.
Enable the “Do Not Track” option
The Do Not Track option is available in most modern browsers. Websites designed to respect this setting should, when enabled, automatically stop collecting certain browsing data. However, as mentioned, not all websites are set up to honor this option (it is discretionary).
Enable “private browsing” mode
This function allows you to browse without storing navigation data in your browser. Websites will not remember you, pages visited will not appear in your history, and new cookies will be deleted when you close the session.
Keep in mind, though, that private browsing does not guarantee complete anonymity on the internet, as it only prevents your browser from storing your browsing data—your data may still be accessible to website operators and internet service providers.
Delete cookies directly
All browsers offer tools to delete cookies. However, keep in mind that each time you connect to the internet, new cookies may be downloaded, so the deletion process should be carried out periodically. Some browsers also offer automated systems for regularly deleting cookies.
Exercising your rights
You have the right to request from the Data Controller access to your personal data (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), or to object to processing (Art. 21). You also have the right to data portability (Art. 20).
Please note that you may exercise the above rights by sending the appropriate form (downloadable from the website of the Italian Data Protection Authority at https://www.garanteprivacy.it/home/modulistica-e-servizi-online), duly completed, to the Data Controller using one of the following methods:
